Any kind of continuous repeating sound is maddening, and when it comes from your security system it is worrisome also. There are can be numerous reasons for the security system. We have to check one by one and eliminate to reach the conclusion. Some of the very common reasons behind the beeping alarm are power failure, faulty wiring, bad batteries false alarms, etc. Among all of them, a false alarm is the most dangerous because it makes you less alert when the alarm is for a legitimate reason.
Here is a brief description of all the reasons to eliminate one by one to reach the main of a security system siren.
Step 1-Ensure safety
Whenever the alarm goes beeping, the first action should be is to ensure that no accident has happened. Go to check all the sirens, check security panel, smoke panel, carbon monoxide detectors for fire, check for trespassing, fire, or any other legitimate reasons. If the alarm is justified then take the necessary actions as quickly as possible along with informing the right authorities.
Step 2-Change Batteries
Low batteries can be another reason for a beeping alarm. It continuously produces sound to bring your attention to change the batteries. Both security panels and detectors need to be checked properly. You have to take a battery tester and go around checking all the batteries installed in your security system. You should do it at certain time intervals to avoid such a situation.
Step 3- Silence the alarm
After checking and eliminating both of the above causes, still, your alarm is beeping then go for the bypass way to silence your alarm. Most of the security systems get the siren off in the following way-
- Input the unique code
- Arm and disarm quickly
- Press the status button
If trying out all these bypass techniques your system still rings then contact your vendor for technical support.
Step 4- Check wire
Damaged wiring also triggers the siren of your security system. You can check your wiring network using a voltmeter. A voltmeter is an easily available tool and is used to check the electric potential. There is a risk of electric shock, so do it only if you have experience in handling this stuff.
Step 5- Contact provider
If nothing works, then the only way to solve it is to contact the service provider. They can guide you step by step on phone or they will send you a technician. Sirens should never go unaddressed because these sirens try to convey a hidden problem be it the low battery or damaged wiring to us.
